Fiberlink Delivers Best Practices for Securing Data in Bring Your Own Device Scenarios

By , TMCnet Contributor

With the growing popularity of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) in organizations, mobile data security has become crucial. In order to succeed in BYOD implementations, organizations need to adopt best practices for securing data on mobile devices.

One of the toughest challenges in BYOD is the separation of personal data from corporate data while ensuring security to critical business information.

To educate organizations about the best practices on adopting Bring Your Own Device policy, Fiberlink, a provider of software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) solutions for secure mobile device and application management, recently organized a free live webinar.

The webinar titled “Separation of Corporate and Personal: Best Practices for Securing Data on Mobile Devices” discussed the various techniques in separating personal and corporate data on smartphone and tablets.

Val Hetrick, director, Customer Success at Fiberlink, addressed several concerns arising out of BYOD implementation. As noted by the officials of Fiberlink, many employees are not comfortable having their personal phones locked down and controlled as tightly as a corporate-issued device.

Data separation tools can help organizations in this regard, offering solutions to separate corporate data from personal data, allowing them to securely manage corporate e-mail, apps, and docs on employee devices while keeping personal data out of sight and out of mind.

The webinar specifically addressed topics: How to configure personal devices and enforce granular level policies, methods to distribute and control corporate data on personal devices, when to opt for a full device wipe versus a selective wipe, and what BYOD privacy settings can do to keep personal data personal.

Fiberlink delivers the cloud-based MaaS360 platform, helping organizations gain mobility intelligence and control over mobile devices, applications and content to enhance the mobile user experience and keep corporate data secure across smartphones, tablets and laptops.

MaaS360, according to Fiberlink, is the fastest and most comprehensive way to get devices configured for enterprises access and to secure corporate data on smartphones and tablets. The mobile device management solution lets users provision, secure and manage today’s expanding suite of mobile devices from a single portal.
